Barbara LoMoriello, the candidate in the 10th Assembly District, will be running for her first term.  She serves in the Suffolk County Legislature as Deputy Chief of Staff to Presiding Officer William Lindsay. Prior to her current position, Ms. LoMoriello served as Chief Aide to Suffolk County Legislator Jon Cooper.

Barbara is a member of the Suffolk County Police Commissioner’s Advisory Task Force on Community Issues, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy’s Gang Task Force, Suffolk County Transportation Safety Board, Suffolk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and the Suffolk County Legislature’s Welfare to Work Commission.

From 1973 until 2000, Ms. LoMoriello’s passion in dealing with the issues and management of the needs of children and adults, individuals and families, citizens and immigrants of all cultures and religions led her to work in the mental health and human services sector. Over the years, she worked for the New York State Office of Mental Health, the Suffolk Community Council and the Association for Children and Adults with Learning and Developmental Disabilities. 

Ms. LoMoriello graduated from Hofstra University with a Master of Science degree in Education and Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation.  She holds certifications in non-profit management and future care planning. She is also a licensed realtor.

Ms. LoMoriello was a member of the Suffolk County Energy Advisory Committee, Suffolk County Child Care Council, Suffolk County Drug and Alcohol Coalition, Huntington Chamber Economic Development Committee, Huntington Station Weed and Seed Program, Huntington Women’s Council, Huntington Station Boys and Girls Club, and the Huntington Enrichment Center .  She also served as advisory board member to Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc., an organization using horses to help rehabilitate individuals with physical disabilities.
