U.S. Senator Charles Schumer Endorses Assembly candidate Barbara LoMoriello

Barbara LoMoriello, candidate for the 10^th Assembly District, received the endorsement of U.S Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) today. 

LoMoriello states, “I am truly honored to have the faith and confidence of Senator Schumer.  He is an intelligent and ardent advocate for our State,” said LoMoriello.  The 10^th Assembly District has been lead by Republicans for nearly 30 years and LoMoriello’s opponent, Assemblyman James D. Conte (R-Huntington Station) has held this seat for nearly two decades.  LoMoriello added, “We have suffered from failed leadership in Washington D.C. and in Albany and the time for change is now in the 10^th Assembly District.” 

Senator Schumer stated, “Barbara LoMoriello exhibits exactly the type of leadership Long Islanders need in Albany – a new voice for change and someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo.  Barbara is a leader who will provide a new energy that residents deserve.”

 LoMoriello’s campaign noted that she has knocked on over 6,000 doors in her bid to unseat Republican Jim Conte.  “I have enjoyed meeting the residents of the district and hearing their concerns.  Like me, they are worried about skyrocketing property taxes, the high cost of living, and lack of affordable health care and this has motivated me even more.  Our leaders have failed Long Island and it is time for change and my plan will help make Long Island more affordable” says LoMoriello.  Her plan calls for:

·        Cutting property taxes by expanding the STAR program;

·        Cutting wasteful state spending to reduce tax payer costs;

·         Increasing state aid to reduce local taxes;

·        Eliminating the state energy tax;

·        Encouraging bulk purchasing of prescription drugs;

·        Providing universal health care.
